Threat of Iraq war fails to dampen travellers' spirits

The threat of a war with Iraq may cause some people to cancel their holidays. But there is some comfort for the travel industry, as the majority say they will stick to their travel plans, according to this week's survey by OMD Snapshots for Marketing.

One-quarter of people said they are less inclined to travel abroad on holiday. But almost two-thirds (64%) said the possibility of war made no difference to their holiday plans.

One-fifth of the 1221 respondents admitted they had already cancelled or postponed holidays or flights because war might break out.

A further 16% said that they either planned or would consider postponing or cancelling their holiday travel.
