Thomson confirmed as editor of the Times

LONDON - As expected, Robert Thomson, the managing editor of the the Financial Times in the US has been confirmed as the new editor of The Times, following Peter Stothard's decision to step down.

Thomson, an Australian, takes over on Wednesday. He began his career in journalism at The Herald in Melbourne and joined the Financial Times after a spell on the Sydney Morning Herald.



His roles at the FT have included Beijing correspondent, Tokyo correspondent, foreign news editor, weekend editor and assistant editor.
