Things we like

北京赛车pk10 is cheering Lloyds TSB's promotion on Absolute, an inventive viral for Rubicon, The Field's grouse-shooting special and The Sun's Dream Team footy app. But we can't stand the Daily Mail's obsession with The Only Way Is Essex.

It must be difficult to keep thinking up special promotions when your parent company is undergoing a review of the business, but Absolute Radio's sales team keeps pulling it off. This week, Lloyds TSB, the official banking and insurance partner of the London 2012 Olympics, did a one-day promotion to mark 12 months until the Games begin. As part of the deal, Russ Williams' morning show was broadcast from the Olympic site and featured interviews with Boris Johnson and Lord Coe. To round it off, a Lloyds TSB page on the Absolute website gave listeners the chance to win Games tickets.

The Rubicon Challenge

Flushed by England's current cricketing success, this viral for the drink Rubicon caught our eye. The film features the spin bowlers Graeme Swann and Muttiah Muralitharan attempting to dislodge a 50p piece balanced on the edge of a glass, itself balanced on a stump, without knocking over the glass. Created by The Minimart, the viral promotes Rubicon's partnership of the Friends Life t20 tournament. The question is: did they manage it? Find out at: youtube.com/watch?v=5Q8m43-YLd4. Well worth a watch.

The Sun's Dream Team app

With pre-season now in full swing, we're more excited than ever about the start of the new football season. And with every one of us sure that we can do a better job than our club managers, we're always keen on the annual fantasy football leagues that the newspapers throw up. The Sun's Dream Team offering is among the UK's most popular for a good reason, and is now available as an iPhone app. The app is easy to use and is an ideal way to track how your players perform as the season unfolds to an inevitably disappointing conclusion.

The Field

Interesting news from The Field. With The Glorious Twelfth (no-one really calls it that) nearly upon us, IPC's flagship country title has published its grouse-shooting special. In further good news, the latest issue reveals that grouse shooting is at its cheapest level for some years. Indeed, with pheasants and partridges going for around £42 a head, and a grouse for around £70, it is almost looking like good value. For those on a budget, there is an alternative - luxury ratting.

AND ONE THING WE DON'T ...

The Daily Mail's TOWIE obsession

There can't have been many people who missed out on the Only Way Is Essex joke a few months back when it was still on air, but the Daily Mail just can't let the gag drop. Flogging a dead horse, the paper treats us to daily minutiae in the lives of its Essex stars Lauren, Mark and, erm, Gary and Debbie. One small positive is that it gives Kelly Brook a break, but if this is the best that it can do, what on earth can we expect from Daily Mail & General Trust's mooted Sunday tabloid?
