Yet it is hardly surprising that a generation set to retire later than any other and facing huge challenges to get on the housing ladder is placing a growing emphasis on instant gratification.
The tightrope between entitlement and entrepreneurialism is a difficult balance to strike.
According to Frampton: "There is an increasing concern you have to throw experience, opportunity and money at Millennials in the workplace. They have grown up in ‘real time’ and expect
instant results. The previous hierarchical leadership style needs disruption."
He urges Millennials not to get lost in frustration, but instead seek out a mentor to articulate what can be done differently. He adds: "Be curious, be resourceful, don’t expect training on a plate. Organisations can’t keep up with the pace of change, but if you can show the world in a different light, you have a point of difference."
So, although business leaders in the tech sector admit to having teenagers on speed-dial, the value of experience should not be overlooked.
