Thelondonpaper in recycling campaign with Crussh

LONDON - Thelondonpaper has announced a campaign to encourage readers to recycle their copies of the paper by offering them free upgrades at juice and smoothie company Crussh.

From next Monday (13 October), participating Crussh shops in central London will offer free upgrades on regular smoothies and soups when customers take in the previous day's thelondonpaper for recycling. Once a day until 17 October, each customer will also be able to purchase two of Crussh's 10th birthday Glamazon super smoothies for the price of one when they hand in a copy of thelondonpaper for recycling.

Thelondonpaper will collect the papers from 18 Crussh stores and take them for recycling. Thelondonpaper currently works with Westminster Council to sponsor recycling bins in the borough and employ litter patrollers to tidy London streets.

The paper is printed on recycled paper and with ink, the publisher says, that is kinder to the environment. This partnership with Crussh is a long-term initiative.

Nicole Refson, head of marketing at thelondonpaper, said it has been looking for a way to encourage people to recycle their paper and make it easier. She said she hoped the initiative combined with their work with TfL and London councils will reinforce the message to recycle.

Christopher Fung, Crussh managing director, said for the last 10 years the chain has worked on its "carbon footprint" through in-store recycling.

At the start of the year, thelondonpaper, alongside Associated's rival London Lite, began recycling discarded newspapers after a deal with Westminster City Council. Both News International and Associated Newspapers agreed to share a £35,000 bill to provide Westminster, with 70 newspaper recycling bins at 56 spots in the West End.
