TfL seeks sponsor for London Cycle Hire scheme

The cycle hire scheme launches in May 2010 and will enable Londoners to pick up and drop off hire bikes at 400 locations in nine boroughs and several Royal Parks in Zone One. Initially the scheme will involve 6,000 hire bikes.

TfL is now searching for a brand to sponsor the scheme for the first five years and will offer its partner a range of opportunities, including branding, joint PR and media partnerships.

London Mayor, Boris Johson commented: ‘I know people will be attracted to the scheme, but such is the widespread enthusiasm that I am certain tha the selected company will also feel a huge benefit to being part of it. This will be the cleanest, greenest and healthiest way of getting about the city'.

The closing date for bids is 5 June.
