The walk will take place on 13 March. Participants will be able to listen to a podcast of well-known Londoners talking about their favourite places on the yellow Underground line. There will also be food and drink stops to fuel walkers on their 14-mile route.
TfL will also activate a Time To Cycle hub at the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Games, which are taking place primarily at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 18-20 March. The experience will feature a photo booth experience, quizzes and games, bike-related prizes and talks on cycling in London from TfL’s staff.
The charity partnership, which was announced today (19 January), will see the government body encourage users to pledge to ‘make their journey more active for Sport Relief’ from 1-20 March.
This could consist of using the stairs instead of lift or getting on a bike once a day. Participants will be able to share their pledge on social media, and daily prizes will be given to the best.
Leon Daniels, managing director for surface transport at TfL, said: "We are really excited to be partnering with Sport Relief. This is a great opportunity to get active while raising money for disadvantaged people both at home and abroad.
"Whether it’s pledging to walk or cycle one journey a day, or enjoying what London has to offer on a walk around the Circle line – we have lots of fun activities available for all ages and abilities."
