TfL to award congestion charge account to WCRS

Transport for London (TfL) is set to add WCRS to its roster following a review of its £6m advertising account.

It is believed WCRS has won the brief to handle the advertising for TfL's controversial congestion charge scheme, replacing TBWA\London on the business.

The charge currently operates only in central London, but TfL is planning to expand it to cover a wider area of the capital.

The appointment of WCRS follows a statutory review of the account, which had been split between TBWA\London and M&C Saatchi. The latter was shortlisted with WCRS, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Mother to pitch for the work (Marketing, 15 February). M&C Saatchi will continue to work with the transport body on other parts of its business, which it has handled for the past four years, although a TfL spokesman refused to comment on the appointments.

TfL handles marketing for the public-carriage office, London Buses, the London Underground and street management. It is currently seeking a digital agency to create a website for its Oyster card (Marketing, 22 March).
