TfL told Event there is currently no concrete date for the festival, however it anticipates the event will take place in June. The network is also currently working on plans to celebrate the centenary of its classic Johnson typeface, with activities planned for January 2016.
From September 2015, the London Transport Museum will host a season of events dubbed London by Design. These will run throughout 2016.
Sam Mullins, director of the London Transport Museum, said: "We are delighted to be working with TfL to celebrate the powerful legacy and exciting vision of London’s design heritage. Our ‘London by Design’ season will showcase the evolution of many of the Capital’s design classics as well as look at contemporary and future innovation.
"By focusing on a wide spectrum including posters and graphics, the iconic Tube map and world famous roundel, to pioneering vehicle design and architectural innovation, the season will explore how design continues to shape London."
