It is understood that the line will be aimed at consumers seeking a healthy alternative to carbonated soft drinks. It will compete with Twinings' ready-to-drink range, and the Arizona green-tea brand.
Aqua T is the latest development from Tetley, which is seeking to grow its position in the soft-drinks market. It recently relaunched its iced-tea range, which it rebranded T of Life, adding Green Tea with Grapefruit and Green Tea with Apple variants.
The UK tea market was worth £655m in 2002, but sales declined to £623m in 2004, according to Mintel.
