Tesco "vinyl" by Bartle Bogle Hegarty

Vinyl sales surged to 2.1 million in the UK in 2015 - a 21-year high - and the supermarkets are seeking a piece of the action.

Tesco is just the latest retailer to add records to its inventory and Bartle Bogle Hegarty has been busy creating print ads to announce the new stock. The work combines imagery that references well-known albums with supermarket produce. For instance, the first ad features a picture of a banana, nodding to Velvet Underground’s debut album. Tesco began trialling record sales at Christmas and is now selling them at 40 stores across the UK.
