From September 12, all Tesco stores will give away Tesco Sport for School and Clubs vouchers to customers to enable them to save for free sports equipment and professional coaching sessions for their local schools or clubs.
To support the scheme, marathon runner Radcliffe, Chelsea footballer Lampard and England rugby player Robinson appear on a DVD offering sporting hints and tips, which will be sent to more than 35,000 schools and clubs.
Children will also be eligible to win a coaching session from the top trio, who are also appearing in a specially filmed Tesco TV ad to support the campaign.
Tesco has also created a website to provide sporting information including coaching videos, exercise tips and nutritional advice.
Tesco marketing director Tim Mason said: "I've spent many years in retail, working to understand consumers and I believe parents have never been clearer that they need to do something about their children's health."
The collection scheme, where customers will receive one voucher for every 拢10 spent, will run for eight weeks until November 6 with equipment to be delivered by spring 2006.
The scheme is a result of extensive research with parents, teachers and club organisers, who agreed new equipment and specialised coaching would encourage children to get involved in sport.
