The product range has been given a clear look so that the consumer can see the product and is given the option of eating straight out of the bowl for added convenience.
Packs are printed in full colour with a high-gloss finish that will withstand being frozen and microwaved.
Seaneen O'Neil, product development manager at Tesco, said: "We've developed a delicious new range which our customers will love. The clear packaging will hopefully encourage customers who would not normally purchase ready meals to start buying into a range where they can clearly see what they are getting."
The product range includes chicken jalfrezi, beef stroganoff and bolognese pasta. Tesco has created Serves One in response to demand, with 30% of the UK households now being single person.
Earlier this month, Tesco unveiled the new design for its Value range, featuring pictures of the products on the packaging and created by the Astound agency.
Jeremy Lindley, head of design at Tesco, said: "The look of Serves One is a first with the clear packaging being a unique development, displaying the product to its best advantage. Research has shown that consumers respond very positively to being able to see the ingredients, just as they would if they were preparing the meal themselves."
