Unveiling its 2007-2008 prime-time scheduling, the Fox network, producer of 'American Idol', unveiled the much-anticipated 'Terminator' TV spin-off called 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles', which will focus on the Linda Hamilton character from the first two films, 'Terminator' and 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day'.
The TV show stars Lena Headey in the Hamilton role and Thomas Dekker as her son John Connor.
The CW network, which was formed last year by the merger of UPN and WB, announced a new drama by the producers of teen soap 'The O.C', called 'Gossip Girl', which centres on a group of privileged prep school students in Manhattan.
Created by Josh Schwartz, 'The O.C.' was a huge hit for Channel 4, which is likely be one of the UK networks chasing the new show, which is also created Schwartz.
ABC will be broadcasting the much-anticipated 'Dirty Sexy Money', which stars Peter Krause as the lawyer for a corrupt, rich clan of New Yorkers. It is being called the next 'Dynasty', the 80s power soap, and is likely to excite interest from both ITV and the BBC.
ABC has also lined up a series called 'Cashmere Mafia', written by the same creators of 'Sex and the City', who have also scripted a new show for NBC called 'Lipstick Jungle', to be aired next season.
Its line up for next season continues with a spin-off from 'Grey's Anatomy', called 'Private Practice', which follows Dr Addison Montgomery in a search for love and professional fulfilment in Los Angeles. 'Grey's Anatomy' has been a huge hit for Five, which is likely to be circling the new drama.
Fox has a new courtroom drama 'Cantebury's Law', with Julianna Margulies, a veteran of the NBC hospital drama 'ER' and HBO's mob saga Sopranos, who will star as a rebellious defence attorney.
Peter Liguori, Fox Broadcasting entertainment president, said: "Our strategy for next season is really based on stability. It speaks directly to our young adult base, while still being broad."
Kelsy Grammer, star of 'Frasier', will return to the screens through Fox in a newscast-centred sitcom with Patricia Heaton - portraying an uptight careerist type.
CBS Network will launch "Cane", a tale of rich Cuban-Americans in Miami, starring Jimmy Smits.
