Virgin Media Television has acquired the US drama, called 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles', from Warner Bros International Television.
The series, which consists of 13 60-minute episodes, is inspired by the Sarah Connor character from the original film.
British actress Lena Headey, recently seen in the movie '300', stars as the eponymous heroine. The plot picks up where the original two movies left off -- with Sarah and her son John as fugitives from the law.
VMtv has also bought back episodes of the 'Star Trek' franchise for its website, , where it will offer them on-demand. It has bought a total of 624 hours of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' and 'Star Trek: Enterprise' from CBS Paramount International Television.
Other new programmes for the TV channel include a UK production from Ginger Productions, with the working title of 'The Leo Houlding Project', in which extreme sports and rock-climbing enthusiast Leo Houlding takes members of the public on his adventures.
The new channel has also commissioned a factual programme with the working title 'The Real Exorcist', featuring the Reverend Bob Larson performing mass exorcisms in the US. The acquisition marks the first VMtv commission from a US production company.
Celia Taylor, director of programming at Virgin 1, said: "This is only the beginning of what we will do. Virgin 1 is passionate about bringing fresh, British commissions and the best US acquisitions to our audience.
"As a massive Terminator fan, I'm in heaven to have secured 'The Sarah Connor Chronicles', which stood head and shoulders above other content at the LA screenings."
