Parr was elected at the annual AGM, held in London on Tuesday (13 May). He replaces Tony Marsh who stepped down after seven years at the helm.
Parr has been a member of the executive committee since 2009, and currently represents suppliers and manufacturers. He is the managing director of Tentipi, one of the leading tipi suppliers in the UK, and has worked in the industry for a number of years.
MUTA has also welcomed Claire Chapman to the executive committee. Chapman, managing director of The Highfield Event Group, was elected during this year’s MUTA executive committee elections in April, and will represent Small Structure Hirers, the group previously represented by Tony Marsh, managing director of L H Woodhouse & Co.
Commenting on his appointment, Parr said: "I am thrilled to have been elected president of the association. This is an important and exciting time for MUTA, as we seek to further our position as the voice of the industry, raising awareness of the association and promoting its standards amongst those within the industry and the wider public."
