Ten Alps boosts offering with documentary producer

LONDON - Ten Alps Communications, the events and advertising company on whose board Bob Geldof sits, has acquired the television production company Brook Lapping Productions.

The company specialises in factual programmes, and is behind shows such as 'The Death of Yugoslavia', 'The Kennedys', 'Watergate' and the upcoming three-part documentary 'The Fall of Milosevic'.

Brook Lapping will retain its brand following the deal, but the production staff and facilities will be merged with Ten Alps' own television and radio company Ten Alps Broadcasting, which makes BBC Radio 5 Live's 'Sunday Service'.

Ten Alps said that the Brook Lapping acquisition is a key addition to its political programming focus.

Geldof said: "Nowhere are communications more critical today than in politics, where the public need to be reached and engaged more than ever. Meanwhile, the business opportunity is that factual programming is an area where we can gain exploitation rights in the content we have developed -- which is something Brook Lapping already have achieved."

Ten Alps is paying up to £2.35m in cash for Brook Lapping, with a possible earn-out of £2.15m over the next two-and-a-half years.
