LONDON (Brand Republic) – UK cable operator Telewest’s two biggest shareholders, Microsoft and Liberty Media, have quashed speculation that the communications company could merge with fellow UK operator NTL.
Instead, Telewest and NTL have agreed to work more closely on pay-per-view and video-on-demand services.
John Malone’s Liberty Media owns a 25% stake in Telewest, while Microsoft owns 24%. Microsoft also owns 5% of NTL.
