
TMG's metered paywalland is likely to feature a three-tier payment option for users
The Telegraph group's project is being led by chief commercial officer Steve McLaughlin, managing director Dave King, and digital editor Edward Roussell, who have been watching developments at on 28 March.
TMG is also understood to be close to appointing a digital agency with a brief to overhaul Telegraph.co.uk, which features editorial content from The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph.
While no details have been finalised, sources have said that TMG's most premium offering will include TMG’s personal finance coverage, its popular crossword, and key subscriptions drivers such as its wine club.
The mid-tier content is likely to include the publisher’s travel coverage. Its most basic package is thought to include access to its general news content, some of which will remain free.
A spokesperson for TMG said: "Absolustely no decisions have been made on the introduction of a paid-content motel. Like all publishers, TMG continually evaluates the developments in the digital sector."
