Telegraph sets up UGC social networking site

LONDON - Telegraph Media Group is launching an online social networking service for readers who place marriage, birth and deaths announcements in The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Readers will be offered the opportunity to upload content and images, such as wedding and baby photos, to their own announcement web pages hosted by telegraph.co.uk. Friends and family will be able to submit comments, messages and anecdotes.

The service is likely to be extended to other classified services that the Telegraph Group offers, which include dating, jobs, motors, property and travel.

Alex Foster, classified advertising director, Telegraph Media Group, said the company saw user- generated content and new community platforms as an integral part of its future business.
