Telegraph to launch biannual food mag

The Daily Telegraph is launching a biannual Saturday food and drink supplement later this year to complement its speciality magazine portfolio.

The glossy food title, which will appear in November, is likely to compete for revenue with the Observer Food Monthly, which launched in April 2001.

The food supplement is the latest innovation to come from the Telegraph's magazine division this year, which already introduced a men's lifestyle title launched in April, Telegraph Style: Men's issue. A second edition is planned for September.

In March, The Sunday Telegraph produced an 84-page fashion-themed edition of its weekly women's magazine, Stella. As with the men's title, another edition is planned for September, to coincide with Fashion Week.

Other new colour supplements include Shop 24-7, a 16-page dedicated mail order magazine designed to recoup losses brought about following the shelving of The Sunday Telegraph Magazine in favour of Stella, and entertainment guide Seven, which was introduced last November.

Headed by Rory Bett, the Telegraph's magazine division has undergone several personnel changes this year, including the arrival of Toby Moore, former publisher of IPC's Marie Claire.

Moore joined in January to head advertising sales on its fashion, beauty and luxury categories.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph Group has announced changes to its commercial line-up. Nick Edgley, the Telegraph Group's international advertising manager for the past seven years, has been promoted to the new position of international sales director.

Gary Frielick, regional sales manager in display, has been appointed to the new role of regional sales director, display, with a remit to develop stronger agency/client relationships.

The Telegraph's regional classified sales manager, Michelle Turner, has been promoted to regional sales director, classified. Turner was previously responsible for recruitment and classified advertising in travel, property and motors.

Speaking about the appointments Dave King, executive director, said: "These appointments are part of a strategy to ensure that we are offering clients and agencies the best possible solutions both in our domestic and international markets."
