LONDON (Brand Republic) - The editor-in-chief of Australia's Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, Col Allan, has been appointed editor of the New York Post.
Allan replaces the British former UK Evening Standard and Independent journalist Xana Antunes. Antunes had been at the Post for six years, but only took up the editor's chair in February 2000.
Antunes decision to leave was down to personal reasons", Lachlan Murdoch, deputy chief operating officer of News Corp, said in a statement.
Allan has been editor-in-chief at the News Corp-owned Australian Telegraph titles since 1999. He was New York correspondent for The Australian between 1978 and 1980.
Ken Chandler, publisher of the Post, said, Col is one of News Corp's most senior editors and his appointment underscores the company's commitment to the Post."
