Teenagers are abandoning the internet because they are bored, frustrated and are not being targeted effectively by advertisers, according to new research.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Teenagers are abandoning the internet because they are bored, frustrated and are not being targeted effectively by advertisers, according to new research.

The research found that 30m people in the US and the UK have given up on the internet, many of whom are teenagers. The research was carried out by the Virtual Society Research Programme sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council,

Researchers said that teenagers are frustrated because they cannot buy goods online without a credit card. Websites are also failing to attract the age group with advertising.
