Teacher Training Agency chooses marketing boss

The Teacher Training Agency (TTA) has named Geof Webb, a former

marketer at The Body Shop, as director of communications and

marketing.

Webb joins from Health Promotion England, where he was general manager,

overseeing ad campaigns for clients including the Department of Health

and the Department of Trade and Industry.

At the TTA, he will oversee a marketing budget of more than £7m.

He replaces Anna Campopiano, who left earlier in the year to work in the

IT sector.

Webb will be responsible for continuing the 'Those who can, teach'

campaign created by McCann-Erickson Manchester, which launched last

October. The drive aims to convince young people that teaching is a

challenging and rewarding career choice.

Webb, a former head of global product communications at The Body Shop,

will report to TTA chief executive Ralph Tabberer.

Webb said: "I am delighted to be joining the TTA to help it build on its

successful track record in recruiting trainee teachers. There are many

communications opportunities to explore and I am looking forward to

working with the team to develop the scheme."
