
The new TDK billboard will deliver moving images in full colour from tomorrow (3 August) and will display TDK’s slogan ‘The power of creative thinking’, alongside famous sayings from historical figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte, Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein.
The aim of the new sign is to increase awareness of TDK’s global marketing activities, and develop and enhance TDK’s global image as a state-of-the-art electronic components manufacturer.
The Piccadilly Circus sign is one of four long-term ad sites, which include Times Square in New York, the Ginza 4-chome crossing in Tokyo and Shanghai, China.
A spokesman for TDK said it hoped the large LED screen would enable Londoners, as well as visitors to Piccadilly Circus from all around the world, to draw inspiration from the great insights of the past.
The TDK sign currently uses neon tubes, but these will be replaced with energy-saving LED lighting that uses only three-quarters of the electricity of neon tubes.
Other brands which have long-term sites at Piccadilly Circus include McDonald's, Samsung and Coca-Cola. Outdoor media owner Clear Channel’s Piccadilly Lite sign is the only site that can be booked for regular outdoor campaigns.
