Tanqueray joins the agency - a joint venture between AMV and PHD - from Citibank, where he was the European marketing director.
In his new role, he will work alongside the current Lunar managing partner, Trevor Hardy, and take responsibility for the agency's development and increasing new business.
The move is a return to the BBDO fold for Tanqueray. Before joining Citibank, he ran the Nike account at Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam and, before that, spent ten years at AMV, rising to the position of head of account management across business including Guinness, Wrangler and Amnesty International.
Hardy said: "We are always telling clients to invest in a downturn. By bringing in someone with Clive's energy, experience and talent, we're putting our money where our mouth is at a time when other agencies are contracting. We're looking to Clive to help propel us to the next level."
