Tango develops £6m footie ads

Tango is running a £6m campaign to capitalise on football fever during Euro 2004.

The football-themed promotion, called 'Make some noise for the boys', is due to break on 9 June. It will include television, radio and digital activity.

The campaign will see a Tango Fred Card character give daily radio reports from Portugal during the tournament on subjects from team performances and terrace talk to food.

Tango's ad agency Clemmow Hornby Inge has added a football commentary to the brand's 'Seal' ad, which shows whales using their tails to hit a seal like a football.

The marketing activity will be supported by a national sampling roadshow.

From July, new pack designs will be introduced on 330ml cans, multipacks and 500ml bottles of Tango. The brand will also launch a cherry flavour and back it with a national poster campaign.
