TalkSport signs Ian Wright to present drivetime

LONDON - TalkSport has hired former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright to present its drivetime show alongside current anchor Adrian Durham.

Wright retired from football in 2000 and has carved out a broadcasting career including his own radio show on Saturday evenings on Five Live.

He is well known as one of the most excitable BBC TV football pundits and has also presented his own talk show 'The Wright Stuff' on ITV and the campaigning kids' fitness series 'Ian Wright's Unfit Kids' on Channel 4.

He will join the national commercial radio station on March 26 and co-anchor the 4-7pm drivetime show on Mondays to Thursdays. Friday drivetime is hosted by Andy Townsend and Mike Parry.

Bill Ridley, programme director said: "We are really excited to have Ian on board at TalkSport. He is very passionate about the game and will be given free rein to air his views on the important issues that football faces in this country."

Rodney Marsh was the last high-profile footballer to cover TalkSport's drivetime slot. He left the station in October after just over a year.
