T-Mobile selects chief to oversee £30m ad budget

T-Mobile has appointed Sandy Munro as UK director of marketing, with a brief to make the T-Mobile brand relevant to a UK audience.

Munro replaces Tim Yates who quit in February. He has been acting in the role since Yates' departure. Reporting to chief sales and marketing officer Clent Richardson, Munro will oversee an adspend of around £30m and liaise with T-Mobile's UK ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

Munro is understood to have seen off competition from a number of external candidates to land the job. He joined One 2 One in 1994 from Carlson Marketing, where he was director of database marketing, and is also a former senior marketer at the Leeds Building Society, now part of HBOS.

He most recently worked on pricing strategy and customer relationship management at the mobile network. His predecessor Yates was One 2 One's UK marketing director for four years.

T-Mobile's international launch campaign fronted by tennis star couple Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf has been created by Saatchi & Saatchi Germany.
