The magazine will be aimed at ABC1 consumers planning holidays and short breaks, and is an extension of The Sunday Times' weekly Travel section.
It will carry 180 pages with a retail price of £2.95 and will be published six times a year.
The magazine, published by River Publishing, is set to go on sale nationwide in January, and News International will be aiming to establish a circulation of 100,000 for the title.
Travel has been born out of extensive research in the travel publishing sector about holiday destinations. It will include practical information on travel and destinations.
Clive Milner, the managing director of Times Newspapers, said: "The growth in long-haul holidays and the boom in European short breaks has meant that more of our readers are interested in objective and in-depth travel information than ever before.
"Yet getting access to everything that you need to know in order to decide where, how and when to go, can be very complex. This product will meet that need head on."
The launch of Travel follows a broader overall revamp by News International, which included the relaunch of The Sunday Times in September. The activity saw its Style magazine revamped, and the introduction of a 32-page motoring supplement, Driving.
