SMG, which owns the Daily and Sunday Sport newspapers, is keen to expand its presence in the 18- to 25-year-old male readership sector. It is paying £125,000 in cash for Flip Media, as well as paying off £140,000 in loans made to the group by its previous owner.

Front immediately gives the Group a strong and focussed editorial and advertising team in central London and bolsters our exposure to the 18- to 25-year-old male market with a magazine title that is growing in circulation, despite the current difficult general publishing climate,' said SMG chief executive Andrew Fickling.

Front, currently sells 40,000 copies a month at a cover price of £3.50. Flip Media also owns Hotdog and DVD World.
