Sun launches opera campaign

LONDON - The Sun is launching a campaign for its readers to apply for tickets for performances at the Royal Opera House.

Sun launches opera campaign

The unlikely tie-up ran for the first time last year with 2,000 Sun readers buying tickets through the deal.

Performances of Carmen and Mayerling will take place as Paul Hamlyn First Nights. These will be shown at the opera house specifically for new audiences in October. Readers can apply for tickets priced between £7.50 and £30 for Carmen and £7.50 and £20 for Mayerling. The shows are supported by The Helen Hamlyn Trust.

The Sun will hold a ballot of entries to choose readers to take part in the campaign. Selected readers will then be able to purchase up to four tickets each on either performance.

The Paul Hamlyn First Night is part of a wider initiative to open up the work of the Royal Opera House to new audiences.
