Subway to create 3,000 jobs by moving beyond core fast-food outlets

Subway is undertaking a concerted push beyond its core fast-food outlets and is to begin selling its sandwiches in sports stadiums and army barracks, creating 3,000 jobs.

The move comes as Subway aims to capitalise on chain in the world, after it recently overtook McDonald's.

The chain has earmarked 300 new sites to be opened over the next five years.

While Subway already has a presence at some petrol stations and convenience stores, this latest move marks a concerted push into new outlets.

Currently, it has around 1,400 outlets in the UK.

The latest move comes as Subway unveils its Smoking BBQ Chicken Temptation, its first crowd-sourced sandwich, which will be promoted with a multi-platform campaign

The company polled its 50,000 loyalty-cardholders on which sandwich to launch.

Earlier this month, first retailer to supply O2's location-based marketing service with scannable mobile vouchers.
