StrawberryFrog nets global Amstel brief

Amstel has appointed StrawberryFrog to create advertising to support its sponsorship of Uefa's Champions League football tournament.

The agency, which won the account after a three-way pitch, will produce six global TV commercials.

StrawberryFrog has contacted directors including Gorgeous' Frank Budgen and MJZ's Fredrik Bond to produce the executions, which will be shown in Europe and across North America as Uefa tries to boost the popularity of the tournament in the US.

Wieden & Kennedy handles the European creative account for Amstel's parent company, Heineken, but the agency was unable to pitch because it holds the Coors account in the US.

Heineken regained the licence for Amstel beer from Bulmers in July 2003.

A Heineken spokeswoman refused to confirm the story. StrawberryFrog was unavailable for comment.
