Organised by Eventia, which represents members of the event industry, 30 different speakers were involved in 19 sessions offering discussions on topics such as the impact of globalisation and the use of film at events.
Summer Eventia 2013 was opened by Lord Digby Jones who discussed challenges facing the industry with a panel, before visitors chose which of the business, operations or communications story sessions they wanted to attend.
Highlights from the second day included a look at the leadership traits that could be learnt from Shakespeare, delivered by ex-RSC actor Ian Hughes, and a session on building brand loyalty by Rebecca Pain from the Blue Ballroom.
The final afternoon began with a hybrid session that brought MPI, Site, the International Special Events Society, and the Professional Convention Management Association for a global association catch up.
This was followed by a discussion from Visa Europe, VisitScotland and former managing director of George P Johnson, Kim Myhre, on the competiveness of the UK as a global destination for major business events.
Simon Hughes, Eventia chairman, said: "I’m absolutely exhausted, but in a good way. We promised that attending the Summer Eventia would give people great stories to share and I think that we delivered that to them brilliantly."
