STOP PRESS: BBC denies removing freephone number

The BBC has denied that it removed the freephone number from its TV campaign for Freeview just hours after its first aired because it could not cope with the level of calls from viewers. A Freeview spokesman said that running promotions with just the URL address was a pre-planned part of the strategy. But sources claimed that the number had been removed to "make call demand more manageable". (Freeview analysis, page 15).
