Stenner makes IPC switch to head its digital strategy

IPC Southbank has poached Alicen Stenner, the group digital marketing director and publisher of Hearst Digital's Handbag.com, to oversee digital strategy across its magazine portfolio.

She will join IPC Southbank in February as digital development director, reporting to managing director Jackie Newcombe, and will be responsible for building the digital presence of IPC Southbank's magazine brands.

Stenner will replace Julie Stuckes, who was appointed in the summer, but left due to personal reasons.

For the past year, Stenner has headed Handbag.com's marketing department, with responsibility for trade, search and e-mail marketing plus all e-business relationship management.

Before her appointment last December, she spent seven years as the portal's brand director. Prior to joining Hearst, Stenner was marketing manager for BBC Radio.

Newcombe said: "In the past 18 months we have transformed the business, which has a slightly different business model to the likes of Hearst and Conde Nast in that all our web editors sit in the magazine teams. So we need to continue that process."

In October, Hearst Digital's managing director Nancy Cruickshank left the company to become global chief executive of VideoJug, 12 months after Handbag.com, which she previously headed, was acquired by NatMags and became part of its digital subsidiary.
