McCartney, the daughter of former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, has worked with a number of athletes on the 58-piece collection, which includes trainers, gymwear and swimwear.
The collection is designed to incorporate the Adidas high-performance ethos with McCartney's fashion sense.
McCartney, who is head designer at Gucci, said: "Why should women have to sacrifice style for sport?"
If the collection, known as Adidas by Stella McCartney, takes off, the sportswear giant intends to make the partnership ongoing.
McCartney recently lost her key patron in the industry when Tom Ford, chief designer at Gucci, announced he was leaving the company seven months ago. McCartney has previously worked for fashion houses Chloe and Christian Lacroix.
Prices for the new collection range from 拢27 to 拢137 and will go in sale in the US, Japan and Europe in February.
