Steak Media in line for Virgin Holidays account

Virgin Holidays is poised to appoint digital agency Steak Media to handle its £1m paid-search account, following a competitive pitch.

The holiday firm has been hunting for an agency since March when it kicked off a review of its search-marketing arrangements, previously run by The Search Works through media agency Manning Gottlieb OMD (Media Week, 1 April).

Manning Gottlieb OMD continues to handle Virgin Holidays' off and online media planning and buying, which remains unaffected by the search account review.

Creative agency Elvis Communications, which was appointed in December 2007, is also unaffected.

The pitch was overseen by Andrew Shelton, ex-British Airways senior manager for leisure and digital marketing, who joined Virgin Holidays in 2006.

Shelton was unavailable for comment as Media Week went to press. Steak Media refused to comment.

Meanwhile, Steak Media's marketing director Peter Suchet has left the agency. Suchet, who joined in October last year and headed the agency's marketing activities, was previously marketing director at rival digital agency I-Level.
