Starcom promotes Middle East boss to European role

The Starcom Group has created a new senior executive post to reward the man credited with thrusting the agency into emerging media world in the Middle East.

Tarek Ayntrazi, Middle East chief executive for Starcom, will be promoted to chief operating officer for Starcom Central, Western and Eastern Europe, covering its markets in France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary.

The move has been instigated by Publicis-owned Starcom Europe, Middle East and Africa chief executive Mark Cranmer, who said Ayntrazi should 鈥渆xpand his influence into new parts of our network at this interesting stage of development within the Publicis Groupe鈥.

Cranmer said: 鈥淯nder Tarek鈥檚 leadership, we have achieved remarkable success in the five territories that constitute our Middle East region since we launched Starcom in 2000.

鈥淲e are the largest media agency group in that region enjoying a wide portfolio of both local and multi-national clients.鈥

Ayntrazi launched the Starcom Middle East in 2000, after joining Publicis from Leo Burnett.
