SSE to mark Hydro anniversary with Still Game experience

Energy company SSE has announced it will be delivering an experiential campaign this autumn to celebrate the brand's first-year sponsorship of Scottish venue, The SSE Hydro, as part of a run of events based on BBC TV comedy series, Still Game.

SSE will recreate iconic landmarks from Craiglang, the fictional Glasgow housing scheme where Still Game is set, throughout the event venue to offer a pre-show customer experience as part of their SSE Reward programme. The campaign has been devised and implemented by creative agency Material_UK on behalf of SSE.

Between 19 September and 10 October, SSE’s exclusive lounge areas will be transformed into the show’s local pub, The Clansman. The brand’s customers who have signed up for the SSE Reward scheme will be given the first opportunity to register for the chance to upgrade their tickets to access the bespoke bar.

Non-customers will also have the chance to engage with SSE’s activity, with the opportunity to win tickets and access to the mocked-up version of The Clansman pub, as well as on-the-night upgrades via the SSE Energisers customer service staff.

Experiential stunts in Edinburgh Waverley railway station and the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre in Glasgow have also been planned in the run up to the shows, and a special party in The SSE Hydro's version of The Clansman will take place on 30 September to celebrate the first year of SSE’s ten-year title sponsorship of the venue.

Colin Banks, head of SSE Hydro sponsorship, said: "Since The SSE Hydro opened its doors almost a year ago, over 20,000 SSE customers have enjoyed upgrades and rewards thanks to our hugely popular customer benefit scheme SSE Reward. Still Game is a much-loved classic, and we wanted to create a unique and memorable experience for our customers and for fans.

"We’ve had a lot of fun working with the Still Game team and the venue to recreate some of Craiglang’s most famous landmarks, and can’t wait for the run of shows to begin."
