The Spectator breaks circulation record

The Spectator has posted its highest-ever circulation in its 178 year history under new editor Matthew d'Ancona, as sales grew by 4.4% in the past year.

The consumer magazine ABC figures for January to June, published today show that the news weekly grew sales by 2.5% in the period to 70,089.
The growth was the eighth consecutive period-on-period increase for the magazine, which d'Ancona took over in March following the departure of Boris Johnson.
In May, d'Ancona repositioned it as a relaxing weekend read for executives with business and lifestyle sections.
Press Holdings Ltd, the new group formed to publish The Spectator, arts magazine Apollo and The Business, which will soon be relaunched as a magazine, will launch a poster and print campaign through marketing agency Large Smith and Walford.
It is also investing in subscription campaigns and newsstand promotions.
