Sony tops US best brand poll for fifth year running

LONDON - Japanese electronics giant Sony has topped a poll of the best brands in the US for the fifth year running, ahead of Coca-Cola and computer company Dell.

The poll was conducted by Harris Interactive and asked respondents which brands they considered to be the best.

Coca-Cola moved up the list from seventh last year to number two this year, while rival Pepsi Cola slipped out of the top 10 altogether.

Dell came in at number three for the second year running, while food giant Kraft slipped back from number two to number four.

Another Japanese brand, Toyota, was at number five on the list, making it the highest placed automobile brand, ahead of Ford at six. It is the first appearance for Toyota in the list since 2001, while Ford had been remained at number three for the previous three years.
