Sony and Sega sign games marketing deal

LONDON - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has signed a deal with former rival Sega to market and distribute its games in Europe.

In a statement, the companies said Sony will manufacture, distribute and market seven Sega titles designed for the PlayStation2.

The announcement follows Sega's decision to leave the hardware market and abandon its Dreamcast console to concentrate on developing games for former rival console makers instead.

Earlier this year, Sega signed deals to supply game software to Nintendo for its Gamecube platform and to Microsoft for its Xbox. Both the Gamecube and the Xbox are due to launch later this year.

The seven games covered by the deal are Space Channel 5, K-Project, Virtua Fighter 4, F-355 Challenge, Head Hunter and Ecco the Dolphin. Two of these are expected to be on the shelves by Christmas.
