In her role, Barrow will be responsible for a team of seven event professionals and in charge of developing new initiatives that complement the current portfolio of events at Somerset House.

She was previously deputy head of events and is looking forward to embracing her new role.

Barrow said: "I am delighted to take on such a prestigious role at Somerset House and having covered this position previously, it has set me in good stead to follow the position through seamlessly."

Wray joins Somerset House from the Barbican Centre, where she was an event manager for nine years.

As part of her new role, Wray will support Barrow in the organisation of events and oversee the venue’s collection of event suppliers. Wray will be responsible for coordinating event logistics and other large projects including London Fashion Week.

"I am pleased to welcome Sarah on board at such an exciting time for the event industry, and as we gear up to be the home of Casa Brasil for the 2012 Olympics," said Barrow. "Sarah comes armed with a wealth of industry knowledge and a great understanding of London’s events scene and we are keen to hear her perspective on the venue."
