Somerfield adds Vibrandt-designed own-label wines

LONDON - Somerfield is to sell a range of South American wines as it seeks to raise the reputation of its own-label offering.

Vibrandt has devised the name and packaging design for Dios de Sol, four Argentinian wines launching this month, and Caballito, six Chilean wines that will roll out in early 2007.

The design uses bright colours and a sunshine motif to promote the region's warmth. The labels on the more expensive wines feature a subtler sun motif.

Somerfield said own-label wines are viewed as the "poor relation" of branded wines.
