Smyle agency merges with production house

Smyle, the Hertfordshire-based agency that can count Rolls-Royce, BMW, BlackBerry and Bloomberg among its high-profile clients, is merging its production house into the business.

Smyle Productions was set up in 1994 by Matt Margetson and joined by operations director Geoff Barrow five years later. When Rick Stainton set up Smyle Events in 2003, the company鈥檚 partnership with the Newmarket-based production house enabled it to compete successfully against agencies who outsource their production requirements to third-party suppliers.

Event director Stainton says this directly contributed to the company鈥檚 rapid growth. He will now seek to relocate with Smyle Productions near to its existing Hertfordshire office.

He said: 鈥淭he partnership鈥檚 dramatic growth over the last few years has been fuelled by the market鈥檚 increasing recognition of a 鈥榖roker鈥 policy rife within the industry.

鈥淪myle demonstrates a more streamlined delivery of design and quality whilst adopting an open-book pricing system that avoids hidden mark-ups of key third-party suppliers. Clients benefit from an undiluted interpretation of their objectives by a completely dedicated management team at a competitive price.鈥

Smyle Productions and Smyle Events achieved a combined turnover of 拢4m in 2006 compared with 拢1.5m in 2005. The merger is set to be completed by the end of March.
