The deal between the football club and the Guardian Media Group-owned station offers fans guaranteed coverage of every Chelsea game, including Premier League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and Champions League ties.
John Myers, chief executive of GMG Radio, said: "This is an important strand of our future programming at 102.2 Smooth FM. Clearly, this will enhance our offering to listeners and advertisers."
Smooth FM's commercial team is in discussions with various parties interested in sponsoring the coverage.
The coverage will be produced by Chelsea's own Big Blue Radio team. Big Blue Radio is available on Sky channel 898, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering live match commentary, other football coverage, and music. It also offers live match coverage via Chelsea's . Smooth FM's coverage will not be available on Sky Digital or the internet for that reason.
National BBC station Radio Five Live has the rights to broadcast any Premier League match it chooses.
Smooth FM in London was known as Jazz FM until last month, after a rebrand reflecting the fact that its programming had been broadened to include a wider variety of easy listening music by the likes of Alicia Keys and Marvin Gaye.
As Jazz FM, it had a 2.8% share of listening in the London market during the first quarter of this year.
