Emap Performance Network is to take another of its so-called 鈥渟uper brands鈥 onto other media platforms by launching a Smash Hits radio show and masthead television programme.
Following the launch of Kiss TV and the imminent launch of Q TV, EPN plans to launch a Smash Hits radio show across its Big City Network of stations. From September 24, the show will run for two hours on Sunday afternoons and will go on to broadcast locally on Big City stations every weekday evening.
The move, which coincides with the launch of a new Smash Hits logo and a new look for the magazine, will also see a daily three-hour programme broadcast on music channel The Box, under the strapline 鈥淪mash Hits you control鈥.
An hour-long masthead TV entertainment show will also be broadcast on Sky 1, starting on September 23 and continuing every Sunday afternoon from October 1. Including live performances and studio guests, the show will seek to communicate the brand values and ideals of Smash Hits.
Tim Schoonmaker, chief executive of Emap Performance, said: 鈥淧op people now demand that their media choices be truly three-dimensional, so we will turn Smash Hits into a super brand that they can see, hear and interact with. Smash Hits is now the second of Emap Performance鈥檚 super brands to become truly multimedia, after the unprecedented success of Kiss.鈥
