Sky.com lures young readers with prizes

Sky.com has launched micro-site SkyWitness Youth 2002, in association with Sky News, to encourage children to comment on news stories they have seen over the past year and submit their own articles.

The best stories submitted to the web site (www.sky.com/skywitnessyouth) will win one of five digital camcorders.

Sky.com launched a Sky-Witness 2000 microsite aimed at adult users in September. It solicits personal memories and eyewitness accounts of major news events from the past year.

These postings will be used to put together an online archive of 2002, called Sky Witness. The archive may be used by Sky News in its end-of-year review.

Both sites were created by i-clinic, the interactive arm of communications consultancy Clinic, and will run until 15 December. They are being promoted on Sky.com and through a viral campaign using weblog sites organised by Universal McCann Interactive.

The aim of the two sites is to build community relationships with Sky viewers and site users.
